Staff Accountant
Staff Accountant, Finance & Accounting
(Remote-eligible, NY-based candidates are preferred, must work East Coast hours)
The Staff Accountant will act as a liaison between the Finance and Media teams, overseeing all media accounting tasks related to billing for both digital and traditional media. This role requires 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with an in-depth understanding of general ledger functions, reconciliations, and the distinction between vendor and client accounts. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Manager, Client Revenue and work closely with the Manager of Media Operations to support both teams effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile media insertion orders and input into finance/media software (Strada/Advantage) for both digital and traditional media billing.
- Review and ensure accuracy of media plans based on scope of work, under the direction of media buyers/strategists.
- Coordinate plans with media team and process billing.
- Collaborate with the media team to review budgets and ensure accurate, timely billing.
- Hold monthly meetings to collect billing status updates for each account, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Upload and match media vendor invoices against insertion orders in Strada, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Provide vendors with correct insertion order numbers for accurate billing.
- Research and resolve discrepancies, including coordinating with the media team and vendors for missing invoices.
- Work with media accounts payable to ensure accurate processing of vendor invoices.
- Create and manage all media vendor accounts within Advantage.
- Perform month-end media credit card reconciliations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to perform reconciliations and billing adjustments.
- Assist media strategists and buyers by gathering necessary financial data.
- Support other finance-related tasks as required.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, billing, or finance, with a preference for media or advertising industry experience.
- In-depth understanding of general accounting principles, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (Advantage, Strada, or similar) preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with financial records and billing information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work within a team and maintain a positive, collaborative attitude.

Total compensation for this role is designed to be competitive with the market. The anticipated salary range for this Syracuse, NY-based position is $55,000 to $70,000 per year. The final offer will depend on the candidate's experience, skills, abilities, and geographic location, along with other business and organizational considerations.
